Exploring Chicken Farming on Delmarva
New products and insights on the Delmarva chicken industry
To help establish common ground when people approach chicken farming and environmental stewardship from different perspectives, the DLLC produced a data-rich storyboard, “Our Changing Delmarva: Trends in Chicken and Grain Production, Water Quality, and Life on Delmarva.”
This StoryMap combines the best available science, data, and expertise to illustrate the connections between agriculture, chicken production, and water quality on Delmarva, as well as to support shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our region.
The online tool describes the changing landscape of chicken on Delmarva, and it dives into topics like human population and environmental management, and the production, efficiency and economics of chicken farming.
We hope these findings help shed light on questions frequently asked about chicken production on Delmarva.
DLLC worked with Green Fin Studio to develop the StoryMap, with funding from The Campbell Foundation, Delmarva Chicken Association, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and many other DLLC members. A full list of project partners and funders is available under the Resources section of the StoryMap.
